YUO101 Music, Big Yard release all-star 'Surato Juggling Medley Mix'

YUO101 Music has teamed up with Robert Livingston's Big Yard Music to release the "Surato Juggling Medley Mix," an all-star dancehall collaboration that serves as the first preview of the upcoming Surato Juggling riddim project.

Released worldwide on July 31, the two-minute medley pays tribute to Jamaica's long-standing juggling-riddim tradition while incorporating the contemporary sound of today's dancehall scene.

The production features performances from Iwaata, Rude Link, Rytikal, Thrilla Rush, Kiprich, Quick Cook and Rik Rok, with each artiste delivering a verse over the same rhythm in a continuous mix designed to maintain high energy from start to finish.

Rather than releasing individual singles, the producers opted for the classic juggling format, allowing multiple deejays and singers to voice the same riddim while showcasing their distinct lyrical styles and personalities.

The medley opens with Iwaata before Rude Link continues the momentum. Rytikal follows with his signature street-inspired delivery, while Thrilla Rush adds a melodic hook. Veteran deejay Kiprich contributes his trademark lyrical flair before Quick Cook reinforces the rhythm with a bass-driven performance. Closing the project is Rik Rok, best known for his appearance on Shaggy's Grammy-winning hit "It Wasn't Me," whose polished vocals bring the medley to a close.

Although the production runs just two minutes, the collaborators said each performer approached the project with the intensity of a full-length recording, creating what they describe as a compact but replayable dancehall experience.

The release also marks another collaboration between YUO101 Music and Big Yard Music, the Kingston-based label founded by veteran producer Robert Livingston. The partnership combines Big Yard's decades of experience in reggae and dancehall production with YUO101 Music's contemporary approach in an effort to appeal to both longtime dancehall fans and younger streaming audiences.

Produced with DJs and selectors in mind, the "Surato Juggling Medley Mix" is intended for clubs, sound systems, radio and party playlists. Its rapid transitions between artistes are designed to recreate the energy of a live dancehall session, where multiple performers build excitement over a shared riddim.

The release comes amid renewed interest in juggling riddims, a format that has long been a staple of Jamaican dancehall. By featuring several artistes on the same instrumental, juggling projects encourage lyrical creativity and friendly competition while offering listeners multiple interpretations of a single rhythm.

The "Surato Juggling Medley Mix" serves as the introduction to the full Surato Juggling project, which is expected to feature additional recordings built around the same riddim.
