Dancehall entertainer Squash is now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), where he faces immigration proceedings that could result in his deportation to Jamaica.
The entertainer, whose given name is Andrae Maurice Whittaker, was transferred to ICE on Tuesday following his release from the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Oakdale II in Louisiana.
The agency's online detainee listing was updated shortly after 10 a.m., according to reports.
Squash, also known as the “6ix Boss,” was sentenced in November 2025 to 27 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to being an undocumented immigrant in possession of a firearm. He was arrested during a traffic stop in Miami, Florida, in February 2025.
Authorities reportedly recovered two firearms from the vehicle, including a Glock 19 pistol modified with a switch that could enable automatic firing. Such modified weapons are commonly referred to in Jamaica as “chip glocks.”
The entertainer initially pleaded not guilty to firearm charges before subsequently entering a guilty plea.
As part of the agreement, Whittaker acknowledged that he would face immigration removal proceedings following his prison sentence.
Sentence reductions
Squash's release came ahead of his previously projected release date of January 25, 2027, following several adjustments to his sentence.
Reports in July indicated that he had benefited from 60 days of sentence reductions, with his projected release date moving forward several times before he was ultimately released on October 27, 2026. The reductions were reportedly linked to sentence-credit provisions under U.S. federal law.
During his incarceration, Whittaker also filed a civil action challenging the handling of his eligibility for sentence-reduction benefits and seeking immediate release. The case was subsequently struck from the court record after he failed to refile his petition on the required form, according to court records and media reports.
Deportation proceedings
His transfer to ICE custody marks a separate stage in his legal situation. While his federal prison sentence has ended, his immigration case remains unresolved.
As part of his plea agreement, Whittaker acknowledged that he could face removal from the United States. His immigration status will be addressed through the separate proceedings, which may include hearings before an immigration judge.
No confirmed deportation date has been announced.
Whittaker hails from Salt Spring in St. James and is known for dancehall tracks including “Big Breeze” and “Shub Out.” His legal troubles have drawn attention to his immigration status in the United States and allegations raised by federal authorities during the firearm case.
His legal team has previously rejected allegations that he was the leader of an organized criminal gang.
