The Jamaican supernatural thriller series Possession, directed by Jamaican filmmaker Storm Saulter, is now available for streaming across the Caribbean, bringing a story of inheritance, colonial history and supernatural mystery to regional audiences.
Written and created by British-Jamaican screenwriter Karla Crome, the five-part limited series stars British actors Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bel Powley and Jonny Lee Miller, alongside Jamaican actor Sheldon Shepherd.
The series premiered in the United Kingdom on Aug. 6, 2026, on Sky, with episodes also available through the streaming service NOW.
Possession follows Claudia (Mbatha-Raw), an ambitious biracial lawyer from Bristol, England, who travels to Jamaica to challenge an inheritance claim involving a £50 million estate. The fortune has been left to local man Cudjoe East (Shepherd) by wealthy aristocrat Oliver Connaught (Miller), whose family has ties to a former plantation.
The legal dispute takes a supernatural turn when Claudia discovers that the estate, Hope Hill, is the former plantation that has haunted her dreams. As she investigates alongside Oliver, they uncover disturbing connections between the property's violent past and injustices that continue to shape the present.
The production also features Jamaican actors Shantol Jackson, Nadean Rawlins and Jeff Crossley, as well as British performers Sean Gilder, Olunike Adeliyi, Richard Dillane and Jack Bandeira.
Produced by Snowed-In Productions in association with Sky Studios, the series was previously announced under the title Inheritance. Its original story was created by Jefferson Bannis, with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handling international sales.
Ahead of its international debut, the first two episodes received an exclusive Jamaican screening at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston on June 20. Prime Minister Andrew Holness and government officials attended the event, which showcased the country's contribution to international film and television production.
According to the Jamaica Information Service, the production employed more than 300 Jamaican cast and crew members and contributed an estimated US$4 million to the local economy through employment, contracts, training and investments in production capabilities.
Addressing the screening, Holness said Jamaica should position itself not only as a location for international productions but also as a source of screen content, intellectual property and creative enterprise.
The series adds to Saulter's body of work exploring Jamaican stories for international audiences. His previous directing credits include the films Better Mus' Come and Sprinter.
With its combination of supernatural suspense and a story rooted in the legacy of plantation wealth, Possession places Jamaica's history and contemporary realities at the centre of an international television production.
