Dancehall artist Malie Donn’s debut studio album, “The Golden Child,” has reached No. 2 on the U.S. Apple Music Reggae Albums chart, moving ahead of Masicka’s “Forever Reign” just one day after its release.

The 21-track album was released Sept. 4 via VP Records and has also earned top 10 placements on Apple Music charts in several Caribbean markets.

The early chart performance follows Malie Donn’s success with singles including “Holiday,” “Van Cleef” and “Vancleef Pt 2.”

“The Golden Child” draws on the experiences that have shaped the artist’s journey from Spanish Town to Waterford, Portmore, combining his signature flow with trap-influenced dancehall production. The album explores themes including ambition, pressure, lifestyle, relationships and personal growth.

The project is led by the title track, “Golden Child,” featuring Squash. Other collaborations include DJ Frass on “Drum,” Byron Messia on “Free 6ix Boss,” Antuwang on “Trackstar” and Javo Donn on “Club Lit.”

The track list also includes “Holiday,” “Live Life,” “Lucid,” “No Fear,” “Time A Night,” “Miami” and “Winning.”

“The Golden Child represents everything that brought me to this point: the pressure, the growth, the wins and the lessons,” Malie Donn said. “This album gives people a chance to hear more of who I am as an artist, where I want to take the music next and the versatility I bring.”

The No. 2 position on the U.S. Apple Music Reggae Albums chart marks an early milestone for Malie Donn’s first full-length studio project as he continues to expand his reach beyond Jamaica.

“The Golden Child” is available on major digital streaming platforms.
