The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming the completion of this evacuation mission, highlighting the collaboration with the Government of Canada in organizing repatriation flights.

Final evacuation via Athens

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the last Bahamian national was evacuated from Israel on Monday, utilizing a repatriation flight facilitated by the Government of Canada.

This flight route involved a journey from Tel Aviv to Athens.

Initial requests for assistance

Minister of Foreign Affairs Frederick Mitchell had last week announced that three Bahamian nationals sought assistance from the government in leaving Israel as the hostilities erupted.

While one Bahamian managed to depart for Morocco, the situation of basketball player Zane Knowles and another individual remained in Israel.

Canada’s crucial role

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its gratitude to Canada for its pivotal role in providing space for Bahamians on the repatriation flight.

This collaboration underscored the complex logistical and security protocols required for such missions. It further highlights the significance of diplomacy in The Bahamas’ foreign policy agenda, particularly in consular and crisis-related matters.
