CNW Network is South Florida’s number one Caribbean news network that comprises of CaribbeanNationalWeekly.com, National Weekly newspaper and CNW TV. Embedded in the community for over 17 years, we have established ourselves as Florida’s primary access to the Caribbean community.

Caribbean immigrants and Caribbean Americans make up the second largest foreign born population in South Florida with over 1,699,754 or 41 percent of the foreign born population.

South florida is home to a strong Caribbean and black community

Most live in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro area in Florida. Lauderhill has a high foreign-born population from the West Indies. In 2000, 24.63% were born in the Caribbean, and 14.73% from Jamaica alone. Other major West Indian populations were born in Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Dominica, The Bahamas, Guyana, U.S. Virgin Islands, and other Caribbean nations.

Compared to U.S.-born black adults, a significantly higher share of black immigrants from the Caribbean are married and live in a family household.

Black immigrants hold degrees at a similar rate as the U.S. foreign-born population.

The median annual household income for foreign-born blacks is $43,800, a higher median income than U.S.-born blacks.

A majority of black immigrants from the Caribbean own their own homes.
