Creating a health surveillance tool

Among the newly enacted legislation is Bill Number 35-0207, endorsed by the Legislature on March 25.

This bill pioneers the establishment of the Territorial Chronic Kidney Disease, Stroke, and Diabetes Registry.

This registry is designed to serve as a comprehensive surveillance mechanism, accumulating vital data on individuals diagnosed with stroke, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and those undergoing dialysis treatment.

Utilization of data for epidemiological insights

Governor Bryan underscored the significance of this initiative, emphasizing its pivotal role in providing crucial epidemiological insights.

The collected data will be strictly earmarked for epidemiological surveys, facilitating informed decision-making and resource allocation in the realm of public health.

A proactive approach to healthcare

In a statement regarding the newly enacted legislation, Governor Bryan articulated his support for measures aimed at identifying and connecting residents grappling with chronic diseases to essential care services.

He emphasized the urgent need for proactive measures in confronting the rising prevalence of chronic ailments within the territory.

Supporting health and sports initiatives

In addition to the health-focused legislation, Governor Bryan also approved Act Number 8437, earmarking appropriations for the Virgin Islands Olympic Committee.
