Global health queries: What the people worldwide Googled most in 2023

Newly released data from Compare the Market provides a glimpse into the global landscape of health-related inquiries, revealing the most searched health conditions across 155 nations over the past year.

In an era where “Dr. Google” is a ubiquitous presence in the lives of many, people turn to search engines for answers to their medical questions. The results shed light on what health issues have been at the forefront of internet users’ minds worldwide.

Diabetes dominates the search queries

Topping the charts as the most Googled health condition is diabetes, a pervasive concern that transcends borders. This chronic illness claimed the number one spot in 57 out of the 155 countries analyzed. 

Notable mentions among its devotees include Australia, Bahrain, Iceland, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, and The Bahamas. 

In the United Kingdom, diabetes secured a respectable second place.

Cancer follows closely behind

Coming in at a close second is cancer. This dreaded disease was the second most searched condition known in 50 of the 155 countries surveyed. 

It was the most Google-searched health condition in nations such as Armenia, Burkina Faso, Guyana, Pakistan, Portugal, Rwanda, and Togo.

‘Pain’ takes third place

The term ‘pain,’ took the third spot which featured prominently in the top three results of 39 countries. 

‘Pain’ was the most searched health issue in Andorra, Bangladesh, Ghana, Jamaica, Moldova, Nepal, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe.

Other ailments

While diabetes, cancer, and pain took the top three spots, a myriad of other health concerns also piqued people’s curiosity. Among the commonly searched conditions were HIV, blood pressure, diarrhea, malaria, and headaches.
