International dancehall star Shenseea presents at the VMAs
The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) made their comeback last Tuesday with Jamaican dancehall artiste Shenseea among the esteemed presenters.
On Tuesday morning, the VMAs had announced their final list of presenters, and the artiste found her name alongside artises such as A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Anuel AA, Ashanti, and others.

Solo stint for Nicki Minaj
Hosted at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey , the VMAs were graced by Nicki Minaj as the sole host.
A change from the previous year when she shared the stage with Lil Wayne and Jack Harlow.
Celebrating 50 years of Hip-hop
The show paid homage to 50 years of hip-hop, culminating in a grand multi-generational finale. Icons DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, LL Cool J, and Minaj were set to unite for this spectacular showcase.

The event which started at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT and was broadcasted on MTV, also simulcast across a plethora of channels such as BET, CMT, Nickelodeon, and even got a Spanish version on UniMás.
All-female nomination: A first for the VMAs
In a historic turn, only women secured nominations for the Artiste of the Year category.
The night saw Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, Karol G, and Shakira battling it out for the top prize.
A surge of new nominees
The VMAs celebrated a record 35 first-time nominees that year.
Kim Petras, boasting five nominations, Metro Boomin’ with four, and Rema with three led the debut pack.
New faces like Aespa, Burna Boy, Davido, and others also joined the nomination list.
Shakira's double triumph
Shakira was honored with the Video Vanguard Award and also also set to perform.
She joined the ranks of past luminaries like Beyoncé, Madonna, Rihanna, and others who had previously received this honor.
Diddy's comeback and award
After a long hiatus since 2005, Diddy returned to the VMAs, both as a performer and as the recipient of the Global Icon Award.
He stood as the third awardee, succeeding the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2022 and the Foo Fighters in 2021.
A line-up to remember
The VMAs were punctuated by a slew of performances.
From the dynamic duo of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion unveiling “Bongos” to powerhouses like Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, amongst other entertainers.
