American woman nabbed in cocaine seizure at Jamaican airport

A 30-year-old American woman was arrested after 2.3 kilograms of cocaine was discovered at the Sangster International Airport in Jamaica. 

Attempt at smuggling

Reports are that on Monday, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the woman, identified as a sales representative, was apprehended at a checkpoint during her attempt to board a departing flight to New York.

Cocaine strapped to her body

Upon inspection, law enforcement officers discovered four packages of cocaine were strapped to the woman’s body.

The confiscated cocaine had an estimated street value of US$70,000. 

She was arrested on reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
