Miami-Dade County School Board approves 2018-2019 school calendars

The Miami-Dade County School Board approved the 2018-2019 School Calendars at its recent monthly meeting with a start date of August 20, 2018 for students.

The Elementary and Secondary School Calendar includes 180 days of instruction for students and 196 days for teachers, with 10 teacher planning days and six legal holidays in addition to the 180 days for students.

 The Adult/Vocational Education School Calendar includes 216 days of instruction for students and 234 days for teachers, with 12 teacher planning days and six legal holidays in addition to the 216 days for students.

 The Juvenile Justice School Calendar includes 240 days of instruction for students and 257 days for teachers with, 11 teacher planning days and six legal holidays in addition to the 240 days for students.

 The School Calendars were jointly developed by the School Calendar Ad Hoc Committee comprised of representatives from Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the United Teachers of Dade, and the Parent Teacher Association/Parent Teacher Student Association.
