President Joe Biden is set to make a visit to South Florida on Tuesday, attending two campaign receptions as announced by the White House Press Office on Friday night.
The destinations on his itinerary include Palm Beach and Miami. Although the news release lacks specific details regarding the events and scheduling, it assures that more information will be provided soon.
Even in the absence of public events, the presidential motorcade’s presence could potentially impact traffic for South Florida drivers. Notably, Politico previously reported Biden’s participation in a fundraiser hosted at the residence of Chris Korge, the national finance chair of the Biden Victory Fund.
This visit occurs just after Governor Ron DeSantis withdrew from the presidential race, endorsing former president Donald Trump just over a week ago. Following Trump’s victory over Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire primary, the November election appears increasingly likely to feature a rematch between Biden and Trump.
Not Biden’s first South Florida visit
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have been frequent visitors to South Florida in recent years.
In November 2022, the president spoke at a rally supporting gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist and U.S. Senate candidate Val Demings in Miami-Dade County.
During the 2020 election, he campaigned in Broward County, including a rally at Broward College’s campus in Coconut Creek.
Additionally, the Bidens visited Surfside in Miami-Dade County in the summer of 2021 following the tragic collapse of the Champlain Towers South condo.
