Jamaica’s Ministry of Labor & Social Security has warned about a disturbing trend in which individuals posing as Ministry representatives distribute fake overseas employment forms, also known as farm work cards.
The ministry has informed the public that it does not issue any such document.
Furthermore, the Ministry states that it does not impose any fees for job placements abroad.
Unauthorized recruitment alert
The Ministry asserts that neither private individuals nor organizations hold any authorization to recruit individuals for the Overseas Employment Programme.
According to the Employment Agency’s Act, the Ministry of Labour & Social Security stands as the sole entity endowed with the legal authority to arrange agricultural employment opportunities overseas.
Report Suspected Fraud to Law Enforcement
The ministry is advising those who suspect they may have fallen victim to fraud or scams, and the Ministry urges them to report the matter to their nearest Police Station.
