Cariah, the 31-year-old left-handed batsman, left an indelible mark on the Harpy Eagles’ bowlers, scoring an unbeaten 71 runs from 48 balls, which included seven fours and two sixes. Demonstrating his versatility, Cariah also made a significant impact with the ball, taking five wickets for just 34 runs in five overs, thereby restricting the Harpy Eagles to a total of 176 in response to the Red Force’s formidable score of 290.

Captain Darren Bravo continued his impressive form by contributing a half-century with a knock of 51 runs off 60 balls, while Kjorn Ottley added 52 runs from 57 deliveries to bolster the Red Force’s imposing total.

In their batting innings, the Red Force capitalized on favorable conditions. Although they lost Evin Lewis early, with the score at 27-1, wicketkeeper/batsman Joshua Da Silva (27) and Ottley formed a crucial partnership of 64 runs for the second wicket. Ottley was eventually dismissed, caught by Gudakesh Motie off Veerasammy Permaul, and Da Silva followed soon after. However, Bravo and Jason Mohammed (26) added another 58 runs for the fourth wicket.

Harpy Eagles’ reply began positively

Harpy Eagles’ bowling efforts were led by Romario Shepherd (2-43) and Sherfane Rutherford (2-55).

Guyana’s reply began positively but was consistently thwarted by the Red Force’s bowlers. Jayden Seales, Akeal Hosein, Sunil Narine, and Terrance Hinds combined to dismiss key Harpy Eagles batsmen, including Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Tevin Imlach, and Shimron Hetmyer, with the score at 100 runs for the loss of four wickets in the 17th over.

Cariah, with his leg spin, played a pivotal role in dismantling the Harpy Eagles’ batting line-up, with only Rutherford (30) and Kevin Sinclair (20) offering any substantial resistance. Sunil Narine also made valuable contributions with figures of 2-18.

The CG United Super50 Cup action continues on Sunday with the Windward Islands Volcanoes facing Combined Campuses and Colleges at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground.
