The 1987 champions St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) joined Jamaica College in the semi-finals of the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup football competition after playing to a 1-1 result with Mona High School at Ashenheim Stadium yesterday.
Keneldo Brown (27th) had given Mona High the lead in the quarter-finals encounter before Namar Nelson pulled the teams level in the 69th minute against a team that was reduced to nine players after Carlton Brown (63rd) and Ronaldo Jones (77th) were ejected.
The result enabled STATHS to progress to their four-straight semi-finals, despite both teams ending the quarter-finals on four points, behind Jamaica College who had already qualified for the last four.
Jamaica College defeated bottom-placed St Catherine High 3-1 at
Tarick Ximinies (52nd), Alex Hislop (59th) and Jaheem Fraser (78th) were on target for Jamaica College, while Mickye Ellis got the late consolation from the penalty spot in the 88th minute.
Jamaica College will now face the runners-up from Group Two, Excelsior, Charlie Smith or Kingston Technical, while Kingston College, while STATHS will more than likely face Kingston College.
In action today, KC (six points) will meet Excelsior (three points) at Ashenheim Stadium, with Charlie Smith (three points) square off against Kingston Technical at Stadium East.
