Reggae Girl Paige Bailey-Gayle joins Newcastle United Women’s team

Newcastle United Women have made a significant addition to their squad by signing Jamaican forward Paige Bailey-Gayle from Crystal Palace.

The move aims to strengthen Newcastle’s push for promotion to the Women’s Super League, and it was officially announced on Wednesday.

Bailey-Gayle, a 22-year-old talent, began her football journey in the Arsenal youth system and made her debut for Arsenal’s senior team in 2018. Afterward, she had stints with Leicester City Women before joining Crystal Palace in 2022, where she continued to make her mark in women’s football.

Internationally, Bailey-Gayle has been a crucial part of the Reggae Girlz team, playing a significant role in their historic journey during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Reggae Girlz created history by advancing to the Round of 16, marking a remarkable achievement for Bailey-Gayle and her teammates. She also made history as the first World Cup participant from Crystal Palace.

A new chapter in her career

Bailey-Gayle’s move to Newcastle United Women represents a new chapter in her career, and her presence is expected to add an extra dimension to the Magpies’ attacking line-up.

Currently, Newcastle leads the F.A Women’s League, North Premier Division standings with 31 points. With the addition of Bailey-Gayle, the team aims to enhance its prospects for promotion to the prestigious Women’s Super League.
