This pivotal decision was reached following discussions and approval by the NAPF Executive Committee, with confirmation provided by Robert Keller, the Secretary-General of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) and Championship Secretary for the NAPF.

In an exclusive interview, Keller shed light on the meticulous selection process that led to Blair’s appointment to this crucial role. He explained, “The NAPF EC discussed and approved Blair for this position. Blair’s previous experience and work with the Jamaica Paralympic Committee make him the right fit for the job.”\

SAC holds central role in NAPF’s overarching objectives

The Sports for All Commission (SAC) holds a central role in NAPF’s overarching objectives and mission. As Keller stressed, both the IPF and the NAPF are steadfast in their commitment to inclusivity, with a warm welcome extended to Paralympic, visually impaired, and Special Olympic athletes to participate in powerlifting. The SAC plays a vital role in ensuring that these athletes are not only accommodated but also celebrated within the powerlifting community.

Keller further emphasized the significance of having Michael Blair, President of the National Powerlifting Association of Jamaica Limited (NPAJ), serve as the Chairman of the Sports for All Commission. He stated, “It is important that member federations have their volunteers serve on the different commissions in the NAPF. The expertise each volunteer brings to the organization assists us in creating and implementing our strategic objectives.”

In his new role, Blair will have a primary responsibility of nurturing stronger relationships between the NAPF and its member associations, including the NPAJ. Keller noted, “Mr. Blair’s work will involve working with the NAPF Member Federations to develop relationships with their National Paralympic, Special Olympic, and Visually Impaired Sports Organizations.” This initiative is poised to have a positive ripple effect, enhancing inclusivity in the powerlifting community across North America.
