Mount Pleasant Academy and Ballaz Academy forge partnership to boost grassroots football

In a significant move for Jamaican football development, Mount Pleasant Academy and Ballaz Academy have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the goal of enhancing grassroots and elite youth football programs.

This collaborative effort represents a commitment to the comprehensive development of both players and coaches, ultimately aiming to establish a feeder system for Mount Pleasant Academy while providing expanded opportunities for Ballaz Academy’s talented young players.

The MOU outlines Ballaz Academy’s dedication to identifying and presenting promising players to Mount Pleasant Academy for potential recruitment. The process will be conducted with the utmost care for the well-being of the players and in alignment with the wishes of their parents or legal guardians, particularly in cases involving minors.

Beyond player recruitment

Beyond player recruitment, the partnership has additional objectives, including the expansion of an elite player pathway for Ballaz Academy. This will be achieved through joint hosting of games, tournaments, and various events designed to showcase talent, increase player and coaching exposure, and facilitate development.

Andre Virtue, Director of Ballaz Academy, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing its importance in nurturing young football talent and expanding the elite player pathway: “We are delighted to formalize this partnership with Mount Pleasant Academy.
