Kemba Nelson, known for her impressive performance as the lead-off runner for the silver medal-winning women’s 4x100m relay team at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, has been added to the Olympic squad. Nelson recently placed fifth in the women’s 100m at the JAAA National Junior and Senior Championships held inside the National Stadium on Friday, June 28.

Anthony Cox, who finished sixth in the men’s 400m at the same championships, will join the Olympic team as a replacement for 800m specialist Kemar Farquharson on the mixed 4x400m relay team. Cox’s addition aims to strengthen Jamaica’s relay prospects in the upcoming games.

The JAAA’s decision to include Nelson and Cox reflects their strategic efforts to bolster the country’s chances in relay events. Nelson’s experience and speed, coupled with Cox’s versatility in the 400m, are expected to contribute significantly to the team’s performance on the world stage.

With the inclusion of Nelson and Cox, the Jamaican team continues its rigorous preparations for the Olympics, aiming to uphold the nation’s strong track and field legacy. The athletes are set to bring their best to the global competition, striving for excellence and aiming for medal success.
