The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) will lead a delegation of manufacturers and business leaders to South Florida in September as part of an effort to expand commercial ties between Trinidad and Tobago and the United States.

The TTMA Trade Mission to Miami, scheduled for Sept. 13-18, will bring companies from several sectors to South Florida for business-to-business meetings, market visits, educational sessions and strategic introductions.

Participating companies will represent industries including food and beverage, beauty and personal care, household products, technology, manufacturing and energy.

A major focus of the mission will be connecting Trinidad and Tobago companies with U.S. buyers, distributors, importers, retailers, wholesalers, logistics providers, investors and other potential partners.

Organizers said South Florida is being targeted as a gateway for companies seeking to expand into the wider U.S. market.

Several members of the delegation will also participate in the Americas Food & Beverage Show, where they will have opportunities to showcase Trinidad and Tobago products and establish relationships within the international food and beverage industry.

Aifos Agency, led by CEO Asa P. Sealy, has been engaged to manage the mission’s South Florida business matchmaking and market-development activities.

“There is a tremendous opportunity to build stronger commercial bridges between Trinidad and Tobago and South Florida,” Sealy said. “Our objective is not simply to arrange meetings. We are working with each participating company individually to understand its products, capabilities and U.S. market objectives, and then identifying the buyers, distributors and strategic partners that represent the strongest potential fit.”

The matchmaking process includes individual company assessments, market research, identifying and qualifying prospective partners, direct outreach and coordinating targeted meetings during the delegation’s visit.

Participating companies range from emerging businesses seeking their first significant entry into the U.S. market to established regional companies exploring distribution opportunities, investment, strategic partnerships and broader North American expansion.

Dr. Ramesh Ramdeen, CEO of the TTMA, said the United States is an important market for many of the association’s members, particularly because of its size and large Caribbean diaspora.

“The mission is seen as a gateway for Trinidad and Tobago companies entering into the U.S. Market. It is worth mentioning that the US market is a key market for many members of the Association. TTMA members view the U.S. as a top destination because it offers many opportunities including a large local diaspora,” Ramdeen said.

He said participating companies have identified finding local buyers, meeting potential business partners and exploring investment prospects among their main objectives.

“The goals or objectives are supported by the long-standing trading relations between Trinidad & Tobago and the U.S. market,” Ramdeen added.

TTMA and Aifos Agency are also inviting South Florida companies interested in doing business with members of the delegation to participate in the mission’s B2B engagements.

Organizers are particularly seeking distributors, importers, wholesalers, brokers, supermarkets, specialty retailers, food service buyers, beauty and personal care businesses, industrial and manufacturing companies, technology firms, logistics and supply-chain companies, investors and other potential partners.

The mission will also provide Trinidad and Tobago businesses with information on U.S. regulatory requirements, distribution channels, logistics, market-entry considerations and doing business in South Florida and the wider United States.

South Florida businesses and organizations interested in meeting members of the delegation can contact Aifos Agency for additional information.
