South Florida fire captain arrested on DUI charges

A seasoned South Florida fire captain has been arrested on DUI charges. 

Reports are that 59-year-old Capt. Trond Welters, who worked for the Miramar Fire Department for 28 years, was arrested in Weston on Monday night.

He faces a slew of charges that included DUI, DUI with damage to person or property, and leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property, according to Broward jail records.

During a court appearance on Tuesday, Welters was granted a $2,000 bond, and ordered to stay away from alcohol.
