Leighton Johnson, the JTA President, shared that embracing and glorifying a lifestyle labeled as ‘fully dunce’ could be detrimental to societal progress.

He shared with Radio Jamaica News the potential risks this poses to the education system, as students might internalize these messages and undervalue the importance of education.

Johnson further stressed the need for entertainers to be cognizant of their influential roles.

He questioned the intent behind promoting materialism as the sole indicator of an individual’s success, especially when the means of acquiring such possessions might not be rooted in education or ethical practices.

He believes artistes should balance entertainment with a sense of social responsibility, ensuring their messages do not jeopardize the future of young listeners.
