CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe acknowledged the Australian coach's contribution, highlighting the importance of the consistency achieved during his time in charge.
“Shane took this team to two World Cup semi-finals in a row, and that is now the standard this group holds itself to. We thank him for it. He told us of his plans, and we agreed together that a clean handover now was best for the team. Andre brings valuable experience from across West Indies cricket system, including last year’s Men’s A-Team engagement. We appreciate his willingness to take on this assignment and ensure that preparation for Pakistan carries on without interruption,” Bascombe said.
Coley returns to leadership role
Coley's appointment brings an experienced figure from the wider West Indies coaching structure into the women's program at a crucial transition point.
The former Test coach remains involved in the regional cricket system and has continued contributing through the High-Performance Programme, including his work with the West Indies Men's A team last year.
His familiarity with the regional setup and experience working with international players are expected to help maintain stability while the team prepares for its next assignment.
CWI expressed appreciation for his willingness to accept the interim responsibility and work with the existing coaching personnel.
