While the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected businesses across almost every industry in the country, there are some businesses that have begun to thrive as a result of the "new normal" brought on by challenges of COVID-19.

The Sun-Sentinel has reported that, since the pandemic, there has been an increase in construction activity and a demand for home-improvement services in South Florida. In Palm Beach County specifically, sales of items such as doors, frames and other fixtures have shown an upward trend.

In the food and beverage industry, the Sun-Sentinel reports that South Florida may have done more eating and drinking before the pandemic, as there has been an increase in sales all around the tri-county area.

In a comparison of taxable sales of meat and poultry between April and May in 2020 to the same months last year, the findings show that the sales nearly doubled in Broward County while Miami-dade and Palm Beach reported a decline.

When large grocery stores struggled to keep meat stocked, speciality stores like Broward Meat and Fish and Delaware Chicken and Seafood Market stepped in to fill that void.
