City doubled their advantage in the 29th minute when Fowler finished from the edge of the penalty area after combining brilliantly with Shaw in a neat one-two.
Villa, however, refused to go into halftime quietly.
Amalie Vangsgaard reduced the deficit in the 42nd minute, stretching to redirect a low delivery from Chasity Grant beyond City goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita.
Shaw finally gets her reward
Shaw came close to restoring City’s two-goal cushion early in the second half, but her header struck the crossbar.
The Jamaican forward would not be denied for long.
In the 79th minute, Shaw produced a composed finish, lifting a deft effort over Okuma to make it 3-1 and effectively settle the contest.
Manchester City added a fourth in stoppage time when Lauren Hemp’s effort took a deflection off Mathilde Harviken and wrong-footed Okuma.
The emphatic victory extended City’s unbeaten start, while Shaw’s goal and assist reinforced her status as one of the league’s most dangerous attacking players.
