The Broward County Public School system is dealing with low enrollment numbers after schools were closed because of COVID-19.

Officials say there are students they can not locate. They're estimating that a few thousand are missing from their system.

Despite a county population surge in Broward County, more than 10,000 fewer students enrolled in public schools this year than before the pandemic.

For this reason, Broward School teachers and school board members began going door to door in communities to locate missing children.

Dr Rosalind Osgood, the chair of Broward School Board, who has been a part of the weekend event said it is important to have children back in the classroom to get the support they need.
