Another senior officer from the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF)  has resigned after a probe into sexual harassment allegations.

In a  release issued on Thursday, the JDF said that the investigation also recommended disciplinary action for other servicemembers who were aware of the allegation but failed to provide the required report, according to Force Policies.

The investigation was prompted, according to the JDF, by an official report made by a female servicemember in February 2023 regarding inappropriate behavior by the senior officer.

The Force further said an immediate investigation was launched and has revealed that the senior officer behaved in a manner contrary to the Defence Act.

Disciplinary action was taken against the senior officer, who later tendered his resignation, which was accepted by the Chief of Defence Staff on March 13.

JDF reiterated that it has zero tolerance for actions that are in breach of the Defence Act and Force Policies, and “continues to implore servicemembers and civilians who are aware of any breach to use the approved processes to report them.”

The incident follows reports of a JDF officer who was implicated in a sexual misconduct scandal late last year.

He was asked to resign from the organization following an internal probe.
