The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) in the Dominican Republic reported that in July 2025, a total of 31,462 Haitian nationals with irregular immigration status were repatriated as part of intensified efforts to enforce border controls and uphold General Migration Law 285-04.
Of those repatriated, 19,556 were deported from processing centers located in Haina, Dajabón, and Santiago. Meanwhile, 11,906 were sent back through border crossings at Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní, and Pedernales during regular operations coordinated with the Armed Forces and civilian authorities.
These actions maintain an average of more than 30,000 monthly reroutings, reflecting the DGM’s operational policy focused on national coverage and an effective response to irregular migration.
In July, the DGM also integrated 400 new Rapid Action Agents (ARR), who were deployed across 19 provinces to strengthen institutional presence in areas with high migratory mobility. Another 400 young recruits began training, with plans to expand the workforce to 12 provinces and two strategic municipalities, including environmentally sensitive and mountainous regions.
Priority districts for these efforts include Constanza, Jarabacoa, San Cristóbal, La Romana, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monte Plata, Puerto Plata, Samaná, Azua, Peravia, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, El Seibo, and San Pedro de Macorís.
To ensure sustained operations, permanent DGM units will be established in these areas, enabling faster immigration procedures, better resource use, and quicker responses to irregular situations—all conducted in strict compliance with current laws.
DGM agents receive multidisciplinary training covering legal, operational, and human rights aspects to professionalize their conduct nationwide. This training emphasizes responsible action, due process, and respect for the dignity of all individuals.
The General Directorate of Migration continues to implement an efficient, coordinated, and rights-respecting migration policy, working with national and international partners to guarantee security, order, and stability for the benefit of the Dominican people.
