Two dead in apparent murder-suicide in Miami-Dade

Authorities are investigating a suspected murder-suicide that left two people dead in Miami-Dade on Friday morning.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO), deputies from the Midwest District responded to a reported shooting around 10:23 a.m. in the area of NW 10th Lane and NW 127th Path. Upon arrival, they found a 29-year-old woman lying on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced her dead at the scene.

Shortly afterward, the City of Sweetwater Police Department was dispatched to the scene of a traffic crash near SW 107th Avenue and SW 3rd Street. Officers found a 48-year-old man in the driver’s seat of a black SUV with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital by fire rescue crews, where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives with the MDSO Homicide Bureau have confirmed that the individuals were in a romantic relationship. However, the events that led to the fatal shooting remain under investigation.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
