Sunrise Airways will launch a new direct route between Cap-Haïtien and Newark Liberty International Airport on June 1, expanding air connectivity between northern Haiti and the large Haitian diaspora in the northeastern United States.
The Haitian airline said the new service will operate once weekly using Airbus A320 aircraft, with flights departing Cap-Haïtien every Monday and return flights from Newark every Tuesday.
According to the airline, the direct flights will have an estimated travel time of approximately three hours and 45 minutes.
Chief Executive Officer Gary Stone said the route is intended to strengthen ties between Haiti and Haitian communities abroad.
“With this direct route between Cap-Haïtien and Newark, Sunrise Airways is strengthening a vital link between Northern Haiti and one of the largest Haitian communities in the United States,” Stone said.
“We are proud to offer the diaspora a simpler and more direct connection to Haiti,” he added.
The airline noted that the new route eliminates the need for many travelers to transit through Florida or other connecting hubs when traveling to northern Haiti.
Newark Liberty International Airport serves the wider New York and New Jersey metropolitan region and provides access to major transportation networks across the northeastern United States.
Sunrise Airways said the route forms part of its broader strategy to improve connections between Haiti and the diaspora in North America while supporting tourism, commerce, and economic activity in northern Haiti.
Bookings for the new route are available through the airline’s website, mobile app, customer service channels, and ticket offices.
