The Florida Association of Women Law Enforcement Professionals (FAWLEP) is marking National Law Enforcement Week with tributes to the service and sacrifice of officers across the state and the nation. Observed from May 11 to May 17, the week highlights the dedication of those who serve in the line of duty and aims to strengthen community trust in law enforcement.
FAWLEP, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in policing, is using the occasion to recognize the unique contributions of female officers serving in roles ranging from patrol and investigations to specialized units and command positions.
“Law Enforcement Week is a time to recognize not just the badge, but the heart behind it,” said Chief Delma Noel-Pratt, President of FAWLEP. “We respect, honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and we reaffirm our commitment to supporting those who protect our communities every day.”
Throughout the week, FAWLEP members are participating in commemorative events hosted by agencies across the state. The organization is also leading community outreach and mentorship initiatives designed to foster positive police-community relations and encourage young women to pursue careers in law enforcement.
As Florida law enforcement agencies increasingly prioritize inclusion and innovation, FAWLEP continues to advocate for equitable opportunities and representation for women in the field. The organization emphasizes leadership development, policy reform, and professional support as core aspects of its mission.
Founded to support the professional growth of women in policing, FAWLEP offers training, networking, and mentorship opportunities to officers statewide. The group also plays an active role in promoting community engagement and diversity within law enforcement agencies.
