First Lady Jill Biden to make address at Cancer Survivorship Summit in Florida

Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States, is set to make appearances in Florida on Monday to address initiatives aimed at combatting cancer and offering vital support to military families.

Cancer Survivorship Summit at Nova Southeastern University

Dr. Biden, accompanied by U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough, will take the stage on Monday morning at the Cancer Survivorship Summit. 

The event will be hosted at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.

The summit is being hosted by U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz who is a courageous breast cancer survivor. This event promises to shed light on the critical aspects of life after a cancer diagnosis.

Empowering survivors and bridging gaps in care

The summit’s primary focus will be to highlight the gaps in survivorship care, sparking discussions on policy proposals and providing essential national and South Florida community-based resources and support services.

Attendees can expect a dynamic program that includes panel discussions, informative presentations, a resource fair, and accessible mobile vans offering vital services.

Event details

The Cancer Survivorship Summit is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Don Taft University Center Rick Case Arena. 

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. to facilitate security screening and registration.

Supporting Military families at Patrick Space Force Base

Following their participation in the Cancer Survivorship Summit, Dr. Biden and Secretary McDonough will travel to the Patrick Space Force Base in Brevard County. 

According to reports, they will connect with military spouses and families, marking their involvement in the “Joining Forces” initiative, an essential program aimed at providing support and resources to military families.
