The award ceremony, which celebrated key figures in the tourism industry, took place in Antigua and Barbuda, with Mignott and Ross being presented with Excellence Awards by Charles Fernandez, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Investment.

Mignott, formerly the deputy director of tourism for the Jamaica Tourist Board and president of PM Marketing Group in New York, and Ross, former senior vice-president of the same firm, were commended for their long-standing dedication to promoting Antigua and Barbuda as a prime tourist destination. Both individuals were instrumental in Jamaica’s tourism growth during the 1990s, notably with the creation of the iconic ‘One Love’ advertising campaign.

Minister Fernandez emphasized the importance of the honorees’ contributions, stating, “Our success is driven by the passion, dedication, and hard work of these professionals who consistently go above and beyond in advocating for Antigua and Barbuda.” He expressed pride in their achievements, recognizing their vital role in strengthening the destination’s global presence.

The event also honored a range of travel professionals, media partners, and community leaders whose efforts have significantly impacted the growth and success of Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry. Among the distinguished attendees were Antigua and Barbuda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Walton Webson, Senator Hon. Alincia Williams-Grant, and CEO Colin C. James.

CEO James acknowledged the essential role these individuals play in showcasing Antigua and Barbuda to the world, calling their efforts integral to maintaining the islands’ status as one of the Caribbean’s premier destinations. Dean Fenton, ABTA USA Director of Tourism, further praised the honorees for their unwavering support and commitment to the industry.

The ceremony also paid tribute to the late Honorable Rob Barrett, founder of Elite Island Resorts, for his significant contributions to Antigua’s tourism sector. The Elite Island Resorts team, including Larry Basham, Sherrie Ault, and John Cather, was recognized for their dedication to the industry’s growth.

Other honorees included travel advisors such as Brenda O’Neale, Lila Nicholas, Brenda Cole, and Corrine Mutarelli, as well as key supporters like Genevieve Edwards, Henry Watkins, and Roberta Diaz.

The event concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthening Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector, with plans to build on the successful partnerships highlighted throughout the evening.
