The operation involved the collaboration of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) and local law enforcement, targeting drug trafficking activities in the region.

Intercepted in Cummings Lodge

During a strategic operation in the Cummings Lodge area, law enforcement officers intercepted three individuals—two Venezuelans and one Guyanese—carrying a backpack.

Upon inspection, officers found three large, brick-like parcels within the backpack. These parcels contained a total of 3.348 kilograms of cocaine, confirming the suspicions of drug trafficking activities.

Additional arrests and discoveries

In a related follow-up operation in the Grant Woodland area of the Lower Pomeroon River, another Venezuelan national was arrested.

This individual, identified as 35-year-old Ortiz Sergio Rafael, was found in possession of 5.6 kilograms of cocaine.

Packaging and branding of seized narcotics

The narcotics discovered were meticulously packaged, with some parcels notably marked with labels such as “St Patrick’s Day” and “Lamborghini”.

The authorities have not disclosed the street value of the seized drugs.
