Identified as Yeury Francisco Rodriguez, the individual was captured in Central Falls, Rhode Island by deportation officers from the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston’s Providence, Rhode Island field office.

History of criminal activities

Rodriguez has a history of involvement in drug trafficking and has been convicted on several occasions.

Initially arrested by the police in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on May 6, 2020, he faced charges related to drug distribution.

Subsequent arrests occurred in Providence, Rhode Island, and New Bedford, Massachusetts, where Rodriguez was implicated in manufacturing, possession, delivery of controlled substances, and conspiracy to distribute fentanyl.

Following his various arrests, Rodriguez faced multiple trials, which culminated in a conviction for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, sentenced by the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

The court’s decision led to a 25-month imprisonment followed by two years of supervised release, after which he was taken into ICE custody.

Impact on community safety

The ERO Boston has expressed a strong commitment to community safety, emphasizing their focus on apprehending individuals who pose a significant threat.

Todd M. Lyons, the ERO Boston Field Office Director, highlighted the importance of removing dangerous criminals from the community to prevent further harm.
