The Guyana Police Force (GPF) arrested a Venezuelan national on Saturday for allegedly hiding 21 packets of cocaine in his mouth.
Reports are that Eleo Geveiro, 30 was crossing the Takutu International Bridge, which links Lethem in Guyana to Bonfim in Brazil on Saturday night when he was stopped and searched by joint services officers.
A statement from the GPF said that Geveiro’s mouth was observed to be stuffed, and he was asked to open his mouth.
“When he did, he spat out 21 small black plastic parcels (all tied). When opened, each of the small parcels contained a whitish substance suspected to be Cocaine,” the statement added.
The drugs weighed 11.4 grams.
The suspect was then told of the offense he had committed, cautioned, and subsequently arrested.
Geveiro is expected to be charged today.
