The hotel made its announcement on Monday, citing the extensive damage from the fire as the reason behind this decision.

Coordinating with authorities for Guest Welfare

Reports are that the hotel is actively coordinating with local authorities to develop a comprehensive plan for addressing the difficulties currently faced by its guests.

The hotel also emphasized its commitment to resolving issues as quickly as possible, while also extending apologies for the inconvenience caused during this trying period.

As part of the ongoing process, a hotel representative will reach out to guests to provide additional guidance and support.

The blaze’s origins and aftermath

The Guyana Fire Services (GFS) reported that the fire originated on the fourth floor, specifically in room 431 of the six-story building.

The incident occurred on Saturday when the hotel was hosting guests who had come to Guyana for the Cricket Carnival and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Although one guest was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for treatment of smoke inhalation, the GFS confirmed that there were no severe injuries or casualties.
