U.S. resident charged in relation to fatal crash in Jamaica

Caleb Davis, a United States resident, has been charged in connection to a fatal collision that occurred on the Font Hill main road in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, last Friday.

During his court appearance on Monday, he was granted bail.

Bail terms set

Reports are that  Davis, who faces the charge of causing death by dangerous driving, secured bail at J$300,000 with a surety. 

His next court appearance is slated for November 23.

Conditions for release

Under the stipulated conditions of his bail, Davis is mandated to reside in Kingston and must regularly report to the Matilda’s Corner police. 

Furthermore, he has been directed to hand over his travel documents, with a stop order instituted at all exit ports to ensure he remains within the country.

Details of the accident 

The incident claimed the life of Danielle Blake, a 31-year-old teacher at the Savanna-la-mar Primary School.

Preliminary reports suggest that around 11am, Blake was among several passengers in a Toyota Wish en route from Black River to White House. 

Their journey took a tragic turn when their vehicle had a head-on collision with a truck.

According to reports, Davis, the American national who was driving the truck, failed to stay on the left side of the road leading to the tragic crash with the taxi cab.
