Jamaica to launch Procurement Awards initiative

The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) is gearing up to introduce the GOJ Procurement Awards, a groundbreaking initiative designed to honor excellence and innovation within the public procurement landscape.

Spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, this initiative is set to shine a spotlight on outstanding achievements across various government entities.

Dr. Nigel Clarke outlines the Government’s commitment

During his address at the Elevate Procurement Conference held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St. James, Portfolio Minister Dr. the Hon. Nigel Clarke unveiled the government’s vision for procurement excellence. 

Emphasizing the administration’s unwavering commitment, Dr. Clarke articulated the significance of recognizing and rewarding commendable practices within the public procurement sphere.

Transforming procurement into a rewarding career path

Dr. Clarke outlined the multifaceted approach of the awards, aimed at motivating individuals and teams within various governmental departments, units, ministries, and agencies to strive for excellence in their procurement endeavors. 

With a vision to make public procurement a rewarding career choice, the Minister highlighted the diverse opportunities and career progression pathways envisioned within the sector.

Underscoring the importance of professionalism in procurement, Dr. Clarke emphasized its pivotal role in driving national development forward. 

By elevating the profile of public procurement, the Awards seek to underscore its significance in fostering efficiency and transparency within government operations.

The Elevate Procurement Conference, spanning from April 23 to 25, serves as a pivotal platform for stakeholders in the procurement ecosystem.
