Loop News- The United Kingdom’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has been commissioned by Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam to conduct a marine safety investigation into the boating incident which occurred in Anguilla’s waters on March 11 in which two lives were lost.
This is according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, Utilities, Housing and Tourism.
It states this marine safety investigation was commissioned following recommendations by the Anguilla Maritime Administration and Shipping Registry (AMASR) with the aim to prevent future marine casualties and incidents.
Marine Safety Investigations endeavour to determine the causes of accidents at sea, and not to establish blame or liability.
Following the conclusion of the marine safety investigation, the MAIB will publish a report which will include recommendations on improving safety at sea.
On March 11, a boating incident in Anguilla’s waters left two persons dead and four others requiring treatment at hospital.
