Authorities at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston have pressed charges against a foreign national following the alleged discovery of ammunition concealed in her luggage.
Alexis Henderson, a 30-year-old resident of River Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, stands accused of unauthorized possession of ammunition.
She is to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, April 9.
Discovery at security check
The incident unfolded around 10 a.m. as Henderson was preparing to board a flight bound for the USA. Airport security personnel, conducting routine screenings of passengers’ belongings, reportedly detected seven.
Reports are that 380 rounds of ammunition concealed within Henderson’s luggage.
Arrest and legal proceedings
Following the discovery, Henderson taken into custody by law enforcement officers.
She was subsequently arrested and charged after she underwent a question-and-answer session in the presence of her attorney.
