Caribbean leaders laud India’s PM Narendra Modi following his re-election

Leaders from the Caribbean community have extended their congratulations to Narendra Modi following his re-election, signaling the start of his third term as India’s Prime Minister.

This widespread commendation highlights the strong ties and mutual interests between India and various Caribbean nations.

Strengthened ties and economic cooperation

CARICOM Chairman and President of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali, emphasized that Modi’s re-election is a testament to the trust and confidence the Indian populace has in his leadership and vision. 

He highlighted the deep-rooted connections between Guyana and India, which serve as the foundation for robust bilateral relations. 

These ties have recently been enhanced through increased economic cooperation, benefiting both countries significantly.

President Ali expressed his anticipation for the continued growth and strengthening of these bilateral relationships.

Expanding collaboration with Dominica

From the Commonwealth of Dominica, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit lauded Modi’s historic victory in the general elections. 

Skerrit expressed eagerness to deepen existing ties and explore new areas of collaboration, aiming to boost the prosperity of both Dominica and India as Modi begins another groundbreaking term.

Barbados and Belize acknowledge India’s global leadership

Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, recognized Modi’s role in elevating India to a position of global leadership, benefiting Barbados and the broader Caribbean region.

Similarly, Belize’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated Modi on his re-election through a coalition government. 

An announcement on the social media platform X from the ministry expressed Belize’s interest in advancing shared objectives with India’s new government.
