The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) said on Tuesday that it is investigating reports of possible defective polymer banknotes.
The investigation was launched after a woman posted a video on TikTok on Monday, showcasing a thousand-dollar note with missing features on the holographic foil.
In a social media post, the BOJ said: “If anyone else has encountered a similar issue, they are encouraged to visit the Bank, where the banknote will be tested and replaced if deemed genuine.”
The BOJ is also urging the public to report any problems with the new banknotes to its central bank located in downtown Kingston.
The new banknotes were introduced last Thursday.
