The two-hour event will take place at the Broward Southwest Regional Library, located at 16835 Sheridan Street in Pembroke Pines, starting at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

A panel of health experts will share insights on cancer awareness and its impact on society. Patrons will also have the chance to engage with the experts during a Q&A session.

In addition to the discussion, the event will feature a Marketplace offering fresh produce and health items to encourage better eating habits and lifestyles. Health professionals will provide demonstrations and share advice on regular screenings, physical fitness, and emotional well-being. Attendees can also participate in various giveaways and prizes.

JWOF President Aisha Rainford highlighted the importance of the organization’s mission in empowering the community, stating, “Health and wellness is only one vital area,” underscoring JWOF’s commitment to improving the lives of its members and the broader community.

The organization has partnered with the Jamaica Nurses of Florida (JNAF) and the Broward County Southwest Regional Library to carry out this health mission, with sponsorship from Memorial Healthcare System (MHS), Publix, and Sizzle Catering.

JWOF celebrates 12 years of service

JWOF is celebrating 12 years of service, with a focus on empowering women through education, mentoring, and personal development. The nonprofit was founded in October 2012 to provide a platform for Jamaican women to network and support one another. Over the years, the organization has participated in service projects with Food for the Poor, Women In Distress, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank, among others.

Through its scholarship program, JWOF has provided four-year scholarships to Jamaican-American high school graduates.
