Dancehall legend Bounty Killer is officially returning to the U.S. stage, with a major Independence Weekend show locked in for Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
The highly anticipated event, “The Return of the Warlord,” marks the first U.S. performance for the Grammy-winning artist in over 15 years—ending a long absence tied to visa restrictions. In March, Bounty Killer (Rodney Price, OD) regained his U.S. visa, clearing the way for his comeback to one of dancehall’s most vital markets.
The show is being produced by CJ Miilan, the promoter behind two recent sold-out Vybz Kartel shows at the same venue. Now, Miilan is bringing another dancehall heavyweight to the Barclays stage.
“Bounty is eager to reconnect with his fans who’ve been waiting for this moment,” said manager Paul ‘Bankie’ Giscombe. “Brooklyn is where it all began for him in 1992 with ‘Coppershot,’ so it’s only fitting that his return happens here.”
Released by King Jammy’s label, Coppershot launched Bounty’s global career, which has included hits like Anytime, Look, Fed Up, Down In The Ghetto, and Spy Fi Die. His 1996 album My Xperience remains one of the top-selling reggae albums in the U.S.
Bounty Killer has also collaborated with major international acts like The Fugees, No Doubt, and Busta Rhymes, and has played a key role in developing the careers of artists like Vybz Kartel, Mavado, and Elephant Man.
Offstage, he’s continued to make an impact through philanthropy. In 2018, he launched the Bounty Killer Foundation, which has supported medical institutions like Kingston Public Hospital. Most recently, he and Shaggy donated $10,000 to aid Lieutenant Stitchie with medical costs following a brain hemorrhage.
With his return, fans can expect a performance heavy on nostalgia, relevance, and raw energy. If recent sold-out dancehall shows are any indication, The Return of the Warlord could be another history-making night for reggae and dancehall in the U.S.
