The famed sushi joint, with locations in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Denver, will open its doors in Miami’s Wynwood 25 Art District, a new mixed-used development in the neighborhood. Uchi Miami is expected to open in the summer of 2020 and will accommodate up to 175 patrons with indoor and patio seating.

When asked “why Miami?” for its second location outside of Texas, Uchi Chef and Owner Tyson Cole said that the diversity and dynamics of Miami make the city a perfect location.

“For a concept like Uchi – always striving to find new and unexpected flavor and texture combinations – the beautiful location, mix of cultural influences and thriving arts community – make it an incredibly exciting location for us”, he said.

The menu, in addition to sushi, includes makimono, yakimono and tempura, with most dishes designed to be shared.

Austin firm Michael Hsu Office of Architecture will oversee the design of the restaurant, while Miami-based practice Formgroup will serve as the architect of record.
