USVI Governor forges regional ties with Barbados and St Vincent and the Grenadines

U.S. Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan is embarking on a trip to Barbados and St Vincent and the Grenadines, aimed at fostering closer connections and collaborative endeavors across vital sectors.

Governor Bryan is anticipated to be away from the territory from March 25 to April 1, during which time Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach will assume the role of acting governor.

The announcement of the governor’s upcoming trip was made by Government House Communications Director Richard Motta during the weekly media briefing.

Pioneering regional engagement

Motta emphasized that Governor Bryan’s visit signifies a proactive stride towards bolstering regional engagement and nurturing mutually beneficial partnerships. 

It is anticipated that this expedition will not only fortify existing relationships but also pave the way for novel initiatives that promise to yield positive outcomes for the Virgin Islands and its neighboring counterparts.

Exploring collaborative Frontiers: Barbados

In Barbados, Governor Bryan’s itinerary is geared towards exploring potential avenues for collaboration primarily in the realms of education and sustainable development.

Scheduled engagements include a visit to Ross University, along with tours of the Rock Hard Cement Plant and various local construction projects, designed to provide insights into Barbados’ commendable practices in sustainable construction.

Economic Synergies and Growth Prospects

Upon arriving in St Vincent, Governor Bryan is slated to hold discussions with Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves and key Ministers overseeing Finance, Tourism, and Economic Development. 

The focal point of these deliberations will be the exploration of opportunities conducive to mutual economic growth and developmental progress.

Additionally, Governor Bryan will embark on visits to agricultural and fisheries sites, with the aim of garnering valuable insights into strategies aimed at enhancing the Virgin Islands’ food security and fostering economic expansion.
