Barbados secures loan from African Export-Import Bank

A significant loan agreement was inked between Barbados and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) at the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum. 

This has solidified its preparation for the upcoming Cricket World Cup by securing a loan. 

Barbados is receiving US$25 million to bolster its readiness for hosting the anticipated games next year.

Revamping the iconic Kensington Oval

Prime Minister Mia Mottley said the money will, in part, go toward the refurbishment of the Kensington Oval, the country’s premier cricket facility. 

Cultivating opportunities and awareness

She said that  Africa and the Caribbean must move to having inter-regional sports, meets.

Mottley added that sport and culture could explode the opportunities and the awareness of the general populations of Africa and the Caribbean.
