Bobby Reid was one of the goal-scorers in Jamaica’s 2-0 opening Group C win over Suriname at the ongoing CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament at Exploria Stadium in Orlando on Monday.

He was immediately isolated and will not be able to play in at least the next two games, the first of which is tomorrow against Guadeloupe at Exploria Stadium at 6:30 pm.

As a result of this positive case, team managers have triggered “cautionary and precautionary measures” to address the issue.

In addition, the “entire delegation will be tested as soon as possible today, in line with the compulsory match day minus one Covid testing for all teams and participants.

It is understood that the positive result emerged from Tuesday’s tests and the result was forwarded to the team on Wednesday night.

A bubble has been mandated at the Gold Cup, but the tournament is being conducted under “controlled” environments, where strict protocols are encouraged.

Curacao and Haiti have been the two of the countries to have suffered from multiple positive Covid cases since the start of the tournament.

In fact, Curacao was forced to withdraw at the last minute and were replaced in Group A by Guatemala, while Haiti had a few players tested positive but they remain in the competition as the impact was not as significant enough.
