Reggae Boys prepares for CONCACAF league
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz have secured two away international friendly games against Grenada and Barbados on August 17 with the inaugural CONCACAF Nations League just months away. The senior team has been in camp since July 6 and will end this training camp on July 22.
Jamaica will play its first game in the CONCACAF Nations League against the Cayman Islands on Sunday, September 9 at 7:00 pm at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Jamaica records third victory at World Lacrosse Championship
Jamaica picked up their third win in a row in the World Lacrosse Championship after defeating Slovakia 12-5 in Israel in the intermediate round on Monday.
Bakeem Lecky led the way for the Jamaicans with seven goals. Jamaica will next be in action on Tuesday when they face either Greece or Argentina.
So far, Jamaica has registered wins over Russia, Peru and now Slovakia.
Despite missing out on topping the group after losing to Israel 11-3 in their opening game, Jamaica is still in the running to finish 9th in the competition.
A top 15 finish for Jamaica would automatically seal qualification to the 2022 World Lacrosse Championship in Canada.
Holder breaks into ICC top five all-rounder ranking
West Indies captain Jason Holder, has finally broken into the top-five on the ICC test all-rounder ranking, based on the updated list.
The Barbadian who was named Man of the Series against Bangladesh has replaced England’s Ben Stokes in 5th.
Bangladesh captain Shakib-al Hasan remains the number one all-rounder in test cricket.
Holder also experienced a positive shift in the test bowling ranking, moving to 13th as Shannon Gabriel remains the best placed West Indian at 11th.
Kemar Roach is the only other Caribbean bowler in the top 20 at 20th followed by Devendra Bishoo who has slipped to 30th.
